Title: New member
Post by: satje on January 22, 2010, 08:44:29 pm
Hello my dear laser friends  ;)

My name is Ferry, living in the north-west of the netherlands.
Some 20 years ago i saw a laser system which i couldn't buy, untill a week ago.

I saw a add on a local marketplace for a Datronik club laser.
Realy got it for under 200$ and it supposed to be broken.

Well now, i reconnected all wires and it works...
It has a 40 mW HeNe and a 400 mW Argon laser....

I include some pictures (not Hi Q)

Next week i pick up a PCAOM driver and some Cambridge scanners.

Also i thank James for building me a nice DAC set  :P

I'd add to that Skype is pretty awesome!

We had a very nice conversation.

He's got about $100K dollars of 1988 laser equipment there.

Apparently he's also very fortunate to live where 220V single phase AC requires no special house wiring.

The only problem is that all of it is bound together as one single unit that is fairly large and probably about 150 lbs.

Check it out! He's got a whole row of actuators with color filters and mirrors, two overlapping lumia wheels, diffraction gratings, a dual motor Spirograph thingy and a whole bunch of MM1s with mirrors to bounce the pick-off beams into the effects optics.

Have you shined your laser through any of your diffraction gratings?

James.  :)

He hates YOU because you got dream-come-true laser system for almost nothing.

I don't hate anyone.

BTW I forgot to say....

Welcome to The LaserBoy Forum!

You must understand BlinkenLights is a real trouble maker. He gives everyone here a hard time. That's about the only reason he ever posts anything. He's a doosh! (His spelling. Not mine.) He's also the guy who set-up the forum and he and I are the admins.

If you ever meet him, get in line to kick his ass.

Hello and welcome!  nice system you have picked up there, its main capability is somewhat removed from what we see in those laserforum animations.  Laserforum makes some great stuff with the Lasergraph DSP, take some pics when you meet, I'd like to see the group myself :)

Thats a great projector. You are big time now. It reminds me of what I used to work with at Sea World.
Welcome

Plus this guy is really cool too. I've had fun getting to know him on Skype.

He knows what he is doing and there is a good reason why he got this amazing projector.

Ideal for Pangolin or other users, the most wanted laser projector. You will see the quality of the scanners at the test picture, for second-hand scanners this are  beautiful pictures, scanned at standard 12K on Pangolin. The system will be delivered with an original Datronic amplifier and pact in original box.

WOW! That is a really nice set of scanners and controller.

I've never seen a controller amp so big and well built!

I'm not sure how critical it is, but you might have some issues replacing the scanner cables. There are high current wires in there to drive the scanners and also wires to return to the negative feedback loop of the amp for precise position of the rotor. There my be some specific impedance and capacitance issues that you need to match. I don't know. Anyone else know?

James.  :)

Why you think i have to replace them James?
Title: Re: New member
Post by: James on January 26, 2010, 03:35:54 pm
•         No XY, 2.7 meters cables scanners.
•         No scanner holder.

I think both ends are common connectors. The amp end is like a 9 pin serial port and the scanner end is a .10 inch spaced, double row, pin header.

James.  :)

This is what I have so far.

I need to do some coding before I get the small capital letters along the botton to slant to the right. I will probably make a new ILDA font file for Arial too.

Received the 6800HP galvo's and the PCAOM Driver.
Sadly enough the mirror on the Y scanner was broken during transportation.
A new one will arrive soon :)

Here a pic of my 2nd opticaltable, here i place the galvo's and some mirrors who redirect the waste beam for use in my 1st opticaltable...

Can't wait to get the Laserboy DAC.

I can't wait to make it for you!

I don't understand why my first order of parts came in about a week. This next order seems to be taking forever.

Oh well. since a few other people want them too, I have ordered more parts than I need from a totally different source. So, one way or another, it will come together. I hate to do nothing but wait! And I hate to make other people wait.

James.  :)

Waiting on that mirror....

Further i am a bit dissapointed in the beam quality leaving the PCAOM.
Maybe i have to fine tune, but there some functions on the remote i don't understand yet.

Gonna mail the factory tomorrow.

Well mine is on it's way...
James sended it out yesterday.

In the meantime i found out that one of my galvo amp's was faulty.
After some measurements it appeared to be a blown diode.

Replaced the little sucker and fired the amps up with succes  :)

Also i wired everything up to ilda specs so i'm good to go when the DAC arrives here.
