Hey yall,
I think it's time I spread some Texas around NE Ohio. I'm having a little BBQ on Saturday (the 12th) afternoon and watching the University of Texas Longhorns play some real football (provided we get the game on ABC). Things might degenerate into a laser basement party later in the evening so if you're down, PM me your email and I'll add you to the evite. It'll be in Shaker Heights, OH. I'll be showing off my little laser system. Feel free to bring laser gear, and I'm in need of smoke machine.

Mack Brown is the devil. Go Tar Heels! :)

now that's what I'm talkin about

With a thread title of "Laser BBQ", I have to ask....
What are your intentions? :o
James. :)
-
The laser won't be doing the bbq'ing and the meat won't be the smoke machine, but that would be cool.

too much incense works as a stand in for a fogger...

Four out of the five major coders from this forum will be in the same place!
It might be a bit too nerdy for your other guests, but you, me, meandean, and drlava should have a laser-code-jam-session!
We should each spend some time describing what our projects do, so that we can all find the commonality between them and figure out ways to make them augment each other a little better. Then we would also have more motivation to continue our development and we would have a better understanding when one of us asks a technical question.
I bet some of your other guests will be nerds too! We might even get a few new budding young laserists out of this meeting! ;D
Should I go through the agony of bringing my gas rig?
James. :)
PS. Gary, get in your car and start driving! ;D

Sounds fun but a bit far. :) Have a good time.

Thanks Agent-C!
You da man!
That was too much fun!
You've got a really nice place and cool friends!
It was nice to finally meet you and Agent-M! ;D
I also have to say, you have got something going on there with the laser code! ;D
Your approach is so different, and yet obviously functional. I really like the fact that you showed us all stuff we've never seen before!
WAY TO GO!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! ;D
James. :)

Please keep working on writing (and reading) WAVE and possibly ILDA (binary) or even pseudo ILDA (LaserBoy ASCII).
The rest of the world needs to see some of the really neat stuff you have made. ;D

Thanks to everyone for coming out to have a burger and some beer and shoot some lasers. This will hopefully be the first of many. That was a ton of fun. My own mexican martinis got to me towards the end of the night.
I'm cleaning the basement up and putting a couch and some other furnishings down there. Next time I'll have it set up so we can lounge in the finished part and shoot some lasers in the other part with the longer throw and invite the non laser guests down.
Thanks for all the compliments and I'm totally inspired to hack on the code some more. I'll post the source files soon.

Thanks to AgentC and family for the hospitality!!! I was impressed with your laser software demo- MAKE some time to keep at it!
Real-time control of a laser projector on a MAC using MIDI, JAVA and Open GL, together with a modified USB soundcard- that's unique...

Looks like you guys had a blast. Wish I could have been there.
