I got to meet three of the four original members. The only one I didn't meet was Bob M. They are all extreemly cool people.

They did an Obama fund raiser in Akron, Ohio at The Civic Theater.

They blew the roof off the dump!

I think they were better in 2008 than they were in 1983 when I saw them tour for "Oh No It's DEVO".

"Don't Shoot. I'm a Man" is printed on the back of the guy who is in DEVO's opening stage show video about audience ediquette. That goes all the way back to the beginning.

ok i like devo and all but this is silly... they are old and were mediocre in their hey day. Their music is catchy but has no substance.. Its might as well be on a comedy CD or some weird German import. Your city needs to get a real band for you to be proud of.. Something like Third Eye Blind maybe...

You just don't get it.

DEVO is quite unique. They are not rock-n-roll or punk or new-wave or progressive or any of that stuff. They are DEVO. They have always been about ART! Don't expect to get the whole gist by listening to three or four songs. Try growing up from about 13 years old to now with DEVO banging into your brain. Then you might get it.

DEVO is the coolest thing to come out of Akron since rubber.

If you think their sound is not-so-unusual, consider the fact that they have been a very important part of popular music culture since about 1979. THEY and THEIR STYLE of music have been copied so many times over that you can't hear their originality.

oh they are original, and i like them, but they are nothing compared to the Alman brothers, Daft Punk, Beatles,  Elvis, the Dead, House of Pain, Beck, etc etc...

they are just DEVO, ya they are different, but so are booger flavored jelly beans...

Hmmm. I guess the mark of true greatness is in being one of the most innovative sources of cultural change and never getting any real credit for it.

Whatever....

BTW, the gray hair is a good fit for Mark Mothersbaugh.

BTW I love The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen and countless other hugely important forces in modern culture.

DEVO was of my own time!

And to me they are every bit as influential; maybe more.

You gotta' respect the guy. He's like 60 years old and he's keeping it real. ;D

You know you're getting old when you can listen to the local oldies station and find that 90% of what you hear are songs that you can remember when they were first released... :-[

I know I'm getting old! November 5th of this year will be the 20th anniversary of the release of my own CD of all original music; James Lehman 11:16:64. And it took me more than 5 years to make it!

I just got the new CD today called "DEVO Something for Everybody".

In a word..........

AWESOME! ;D

Very loud, high N-R-G dance music, very heavy!

Unusually great lyrics!

Exceptional vocals.

Fantastic low end for sub-woofers! ;D

There is nothing minimalist about this recording. It is very thick, super produced, lots of effects and unbelievable synth sounds. There are some hints of sounds and note lines from some of their previous masterpieces.

I was blown away to hear acoustic piano in "No Place Like Home". Now that's taking it to the next level!

This is absolutely an instant classic that fits right in their with their first 5 releases.

Now I can't wait for the live show!

Looks like they will be close to Ohio in the first week of July!

I wish they would play The Akron Civic Theater!

They could sell it out 3 or 4 nights in a row, no problems.

It really is a fun album.  So glad DEVO is back and also that the new album is so good.  It's been a few years since I've seen them perform.  The last time I did see them was as the Concourse in San Francisco at the ZDTV opening party. (Was this 10 years ago?)  I was the laserist at that event and I didn't even know they were playing.  Yes, I got to throw lasers for DEVO.  On a side note, this was also the first time I saw the Blue Man Group.  The Blue Men brought a giant jello mold to the stage and dug the ZDTV logo from inside the jello.  I didn't find out who those wierd blue guys were until several years later.

Thanks!

Now all I need is one more decent photo of the fifth guy with an energy dome, looking like he's dancing and playing a keyboard. Then I'll have all five!

Suggestions are welcome!
