Linux
« on: April 09, 2009, 03:13:34 am »
I can still remember the first time I ever heard the word Linux.

It was properly pronounced as well! (It really is a short i sound)

It was at the Findlay Hamfest in 1994.

I wandered up to some long haired geek with glasses (much like myself, but shorter).

We engaged in compuspeak.

He said he was into something different.

Linux.

In 1995, My friend Mike asked me if I wanted to take a class with him at The University of Akron called ANSI C and The UNIX Operating System.

I said "Sure!"

In 1996, my partner and I established Extra Stimulus Inc. which is and always was a Linux based Internet service.

James.  :)

PS. I got an A.

No. It was because in 1996, it was the only OS other than FreeBSD that I could put on PC hardware to run a reliable server.

And it still is.
