Good choice.
I have been working with the Riya Multibus and with the SD and network features, for the price you can't beat it. You can even add an LCD to turn it into 'pro'

That will be a nice step up from the soundcard. Make sure you adjust your scanners to work with +-10V before you use it.

If you want to maintain compatibility with both, just don't connect the negative side of the differential output and it will have the same levels as a sound card. If you have good grounds and short cable runs this shouldn't make a difference.
