Well, I guess I should say thanks for not banning, hating, etc., etc., but this has more than likely been the only time I'll participate here - postings on PL address pretty much everything I need for my particular involvement in the hobby. Just a reality, not a bash against Laserboy or Spaghetti.
My concern here is issues, attitudes, etc, that might be brought to SELEM, and I believe those have been addressed. How those are handled at SELEM is up to you guys...

Well, I spoke my mind, and certainly made nothing up in the process - like you said, I guess it's all in the way you look at it.
HOPEFULLY, the dislikes, anti-whatever will get left at the house by anyone attending SELEM.
I guess we'll find out in a few days!!

If SELEM and the photonlexicon are Pangolin / ILDA only, then someone better come right out and say that now.
James.
Not said, inferred, or intended - but we also don't rant & rave about those who aren't Pangolin / ILDA... Actually, you might be surprise by how often Laserboy & this site are recommended for guys & gals visiting PL that are just getting their start. Interesting, huh...

I guess it's all a matter of how you look at it.
Why didn't you just sign in here with your PL handle, Stuka?
You have no idea what it's like to swim with a shark until you've done it.
I've been in the water since 2004.
James.
What! And ruin my good name by posting here!! No way, dude!! Uh, oh - I hear the music from a movie about a big fish starting to play in the background....

I'm pretty sure no one ever under estimated or downplayed the efforts you (or Carmangary / Hyena) put into your projects.
I do think, however, with your post-SELEM attitudes last year (maybe just a timing thing - we know Gary didn't attend...), you both alienated quite a few laserists who otherwise might have shown a lot of interest and support in what you have been working on.
Seriously - how many past SELEM or FLEM attendees have ever spent multiple pages posting anti-Laserboy, anti-Spaghetti rantings on ANY website, or ever made any degrading, snide comments about the laserists that choose to use those programs?
NOT many, I'd be willing to bet! Can you and Carmangary / Hyena honestly say the same about yourselves, when it comes to referring to those of us who are quite happy with our decision to use and support Pangolin gear, and / or support the ILDA because we see some positive benefits in their efforts?
And it wasn't that hard to find - open forums, with occasional, quiet visits to see what is going on - here and on PL.

Nope - not Bill, not Buffo, not anyone from the ILDA leadership, not in anyway officially associated with Pangolin or ILDA or organizing SELEM. Just a hobbiest with precious little time to put into a really cool hobby, who wants the rare occasions we gather to be as free as possible of unnecessary drama & BS...

Not sure who you are but if you can't tell I was joking you should just go back to where you came from. It was on PL that there was a bunch of drama about someone possibly causing trouble and warning about police involvement, etc, etc. I am starting to think I should just stay home.
Do you really think I was serious about putting on a stupid skit? Geez. Get a sense of humor.
Nah, it wasn't about the comment about the num-chucks and brass knuckles, it was just the ever-lasting "us" versus "them" attitude that some of you have maintained, sometimes quite openly, sometimes subtlety, since leaving PL, even though that type of banter has pretty much disappeared on that site. And the comment about the skit - knowing it was a joke, duh - was more of a gentle reminder that the SELEM meet will be HEAVY into synchronized multi-projector - and heavily Pangolin-driven - shows. Evidently, that was quite an issue last year with some of the folks now on this forum, based on some of their acidic post-SELEM commentary last summer. Nobody is - or ever has - knocked the software efforts from anyone now on this site. However, the "us" versus "them", anti-Pangolin, anti-ILDA, stance you guys continue to take gets tiresome. It's one thing to take that stance on this little web site, but when you bring that attitude to SELEM, that is another matter entirely. Many of us rearrange, plan, and spend a lot of time and money to get ready for this once-a-year event. Most of are very happy with the fact that we have the top leadership from ILDA and Pangolin willing to show up and freely give demonstrations & presentations that are generally only available at events that would cost much more to attend. So all the snide comments aside, if you guys could show up with Laserboy, Spaghetti, etc. and just hang out and enjoy the lasers, I think eveyone will have a good time. However, if you're going to show up with that "us" versus "them" chip on your shoulder, I'm sure most of us would prefer you just kept that BS at home. And thanks for the welcome, BTW...

Over at PL it sounds like they are worried about trouble starting. Hmm. Are they worried about a PL vs LaserBoy forums turf war? I guess I better bring my num-chucks and brass knuckles. Who's got my back?
Wow - THAT kind of attitude should bring out the warm welcome between members of "this" site and "the other" site!! Interesting how the big SELEM event has been opened up to everyone interested in attending, yet the only negative comments being posted are coming from members of THIS forum. WTF is up with that? Why do you guys even bother to attend, if that is really the way you feel? As far as "turf war" - nah, it's just about getting together and having fun shooting lasers - but I would be willing to bet that the majority of the rigs there will be powered by Pangolin... BTW - I think if you'll read Buffo's comments in their entirety on "the other" site, you'll see he explained the liability issues as the reason he felt necessary to post his concerns. Also, concerning the skit, a full schedule of events has been posted, including where they will be presented. Keep in mind that the events were selected by vote of the active members of that forum. And yeah, the "photo-ops" should be entertaining, along with all the additional "acting" and "high drama" you guys choose to bring along. Geez, it looks like you guys need to get a life, and focus more on what your software can do, and less on the "us" versus "them" BS. Just an observation....

So, what exactly is the "us" versus "them" a reference to? Interesting...
