Hinged Newt / USB / TTL circuit info

Wow! Gary you are fast.
Here is the link to the USB to TTL converter. I don't know why but you have to scroll to the bottom of the page to see the product after the page loads. At least on my computer.

Construction / My New Projector
« on: May 03, 2009, 08:26:21 am »
Now that the white light laser pointer is done, I am moving on the the next project. I'm building a new projector. I have all of the components. I just need to put them all togother.
It will consist of:

-Sound Card DAC
-Turbo Track AMP
-Cambrige 6800 scanners
-150 mw of 532nm Green (TTL Modulation)
-130 mw of 650nm Red (Analog Modulation)
-75 mw of 405nm BluRay (Analog Modulation)
-Lumia wheel
-Machita diffraction grating
Any other toys I can cram in there.

I can't wait to start playing with all of the software available.
Pictures of the build progress soon.

And Now For Something Completely Different! / Lasik@home

This was too good to pass up. I came across it some time ago and forgot about it until now. Make sure you check out the Four Easy Steps page, it's my favorite.

Construction / My Old Projector
« on: March 10, 2009, 03:17:23 pm »
I thought with all the projector construction going on I would show off my old projector.

I built this about 10 years ago. Every hole in the bread board was drilled and tapped by hand.
I tought myself how to weld aluminum using my MIG for the housing.
The lids were bent by parking my car on a weight lifting bar over the aluminum plate then using leg muscle lifting the plate until I got the radius I needed. Can you say hernia?

It was designed to sit between the audience and screen. One side projected graphics and the other beams. I used the waste from the PCAOM steered through to the other side for the beam effects.

It had a 300mw American air cooled argon and 50 mw HeNe, General Scanning G120 scanners, a PCAOM, and a Universal Geometric Corrector.

It weighed 70 Lbs. and was built to just fit in my car at the time (Mitsubishi Eclipse).

There was a lot of room to expand for the future.

Laser Enthusiasts Meetings / Trip to Ohio.
« on: February 17, 2009, 07:49:53 am »
Hey fellow Ohio laser geeks.  ;D
I am going to be in Ohio for my brothers wedding on March 14th. We will most likely come up the week before.

I would love to meet as many of you as possible while there. Maybe we can hold some sort of geek fest.

I will be driving so I can bring some of my toys with me. Let me know what you think.

I'm not looking forward to the cold though.

Construction / 7 Color / White Pointer Project
« on: January 28, 2009, 07:56:13 am »
Hi all, :D
I decided after building a Red and BlueRay pointer that I would pick up a green module and attempt a White Light / 7 color pointer. I have seen the results of one other posted on LPF, and it looks good. I want to make it as small as possible and may add a spiro projector after done.

Here are pics of my progress so far. I still need a Micro driver from Dr. Lava for the BlueRay. I may steel one from my other pointer. I'm still hammering out the details on how to mount the mirrors and dicros and still have the adjustments needed for alignment. I think I will bond each of them to a 1/8" solid wire then drill a hole in the mount with a set screw. The wire will allow for the adjustment and still be very rigid.

What do you guys think?
