2010 sci-fi newyears countdown animation
« on: November 04, 2009, 02:01:29 am »
Here's a donation for the forum if you like sci-fi :)
With the tools at hand, this took 3 long evenings.

Just start playback 46 seconds before 12:00 on new years eve.

Details:
30k ILDA, to be scanned half size at continuous 30kpps frame-by-frame.  If you have 25k scanners, start 55 seconds before 12:00 and scan at 25k.

Animation inspired from space ship Discovery One's final demise in the book 2010 a space odyssey. Thank you Arthur C. Clarke for memorable childhood wonder :)

Hey drlava...

You remember seeing the glitches when I tried to render this to wave in LaserBoy?

Well, I looked into the matter.

If you look at frames 1796 and 1797, you will see that one frame's last vertex is almost all the way on the left side of the screen and the first vertex of the next frame in near the center. That's a jump of more than 32,000 point locations in a single step.

This is just one example I found. There are several others.

I did find a little bug in LaserBoy and fixed it. So now when I tell LaserBoy to optimize, it takes care of those things.

But there are huge jumps in your ILDA file.

James.  :)

yes, the text portion is straight out of LDS I didn't run optimization in ILD SOS.  Will check this out, though thanks. If you remember at the time laserboy was causing much worse jumps than that!

That's because your data contained -32768.

When you negate that, you get -32768!

I just put in a check. Now when LaserBoy reads ILDA data and sees -32768 it puts the value -32767 in memory.
