Nah, I don't know why but it doesn't really surprise me considering that 16 bits app are pretty ancient.  Try Win 3.1 in a Virtual Machine or something.

Downloading actually was painless, it took maybe 40min or so, and I didn't have to babysit...

im re-installing 64bit 7 rc1 on my laptop this week.. im going to quad boot XP, Vista, 7, and sabayon linux

 The patient is stable... I finally got the free Win7_64 upgrade for the Toshiba laptop I bought a couple months back. The install took a long time, but nothing bad happened (they made it a point to state that 'Installation and use is done at your own risk'). Everything that I tested so far worked OK, except for my USB DAC (imagine that). I have the earlier CM106 card, and was using it with the CMedia driver in Vista64 with no problems. After the upgrade, I went to open the CM control app, and it locked the computer hard <rudeboot>. I then tried to uninsall the CM driver, knowing that Win7 has a simplified driver of its own, but the uninstall failed. Gee, let's try to reinstall the driver <reboot>- it still locked up when I opened the control app <rudeboot>, but I was able to sucessfully uninstall the driver after the system came back up <reboot>. Win then loaded a driver on its own, but it still didn't work right, as all 8 channels got crammed into stereo. Anyway, I found that even though the CM control utility went away with the uninstall, Win was still using the CM driver- I then switched it to the Win driver from the Control Panel. At this point, X & Y were OK, but nothing was coming out of the other channels <reboot>; and we're back in Kansas.

 Months back, I had a much simpler experience with a trial rev of 7 on my desktop PC, but that was because I loaded it fresh on its own HD, and never installed the CM driver in the first place. If you have the later CM6206 with full 8ch wiring, keep in mind that the simplified driver does not cause or support the swapping of channel pairs 5&6 and 7&8, so you may have to modify your wiring for B&I and LR audio in the correction amp.

I traded mine for a Baldwin Double Six Electric 12 String Guitar just a few years after I got it.

I still have the 12 string!

If you look inside the grand fold LP jacket for Queen Jazz, it's right there in the middle.

This is half of the inside photo.



The 12 string (not actually the one I own) is at the far left, in front of the huge drum set. It looks a bit like a Strat, but it's big, thick, solid, rock maple and weighs more than any other guitar I've ever picked up. It's a cinder block or two!

 Yeah, I still have it, but the 16K memory module edge connector has a ding in it- I don't know whether it still works or not.

I'm sure it can be fixed!

I took my 16K module apart and F-ed up the ribbon between the two boards. I replaced it by solding individual wires from one board to the other and it worked great after that!

GAWD! I have no idea why I remember these things!  %)

Since we're on the subject of antiques...

I'm fixing up the Bootsy Speakers!

(Home made, crazy loud, 18 inch PA woofers with four piezo tweeters in each 12 cu. ft. box... circa 1985!)

I'm going to list them on craigslist.

I'm looking at $20 each for replacement, 15000uF, 100V, electrolytic caps for the 150W / ch. Fischer amp that goes with them. Remember that?

I'm hoping to get a new pair of scanners out of the sale of either the speakers or maybe both.

I had a Super 80 (Z80 based 1MHz machine 16K), I had a MicroBee Z80A 32K 4MHz (I think), it did graphics (sort of). Ahh CPM2.2, now there was an operating system, oh yeah and it had a 3.5" floppy that could hold 720K (wow I'll never fill that up).

Plus I built various other kit computers, those were the days when machine code was the go.
