Shortly after the crust of The Earth cooled enough to solidify into continental plates and the atmosphere rained down to fill the oceans... in about late 2003 AD, a project originally called ild2fb emerged into what is today known as LaserBoy!
The major concept of LaserBoy is that a generic, multi-channel, computer sound device can be used to produce the analog signals required to control a full color laser projector. The same sound device might also provide synchronized stereo audio.
But LaserBoy has developed into something that does a lot more than that.
If you really get into LaserBoy, I think you will find that it is more than just an application. It is a way of understanding the space in which 3D color laser vector art exists.
It has been carefully created to get the most out of only open standards and specifications.
The software is free and open. It compiles and runs in every OS. The sound card concept is generic. The electronics to convert the sound card to output laser signals is simple and open.
Enjoy!
