New here
« on: May 26, 2010, 11:45:54 am »
hello peoples,

this is my first post here. james got me into lasers.. i am from his neighborhood in akron. i have been over his spot 4 times and each time have had my mind expanded. initially with the lasers, james's art and homegrown speakers and the laserboy software and most recently by dr. lavas lasercam software.

i am hyped to build a laser projector and use tools like laserboy and lasercam as components to create visuals that exist along side and interact with music/audio, other types of visuals (video, CG etc) and moving parts (servos, solenoids etc). i am blown away by laser light as an incredibly unique tool that def deserves its place on the raw material tool belt.

i am very interested in ways to manipulate lasers in real time so that you could do things like perform with an improvisational music act. i am also looking forward to coming up with ways of syncing laser light to something like MIDI/OSC, 'reacting' to audio and and other sensors/inputs/modulation sources..

i am wondering if anyone here is familiar with tools like Max/MSP, Ableton Live and Arduino?

anyways, im looking forward to making progress in this new (to me) world.. i am open to any advice and ideas and am extremely excited about all the possibilities.
