Spaghetti. So it could be that Spaghetti uses a weird version of the lasermedia pattern, but I dunno.

EDIT: I just tried making a .ild file with some simple text in it, and played it on Spaghetti thru Moncha, then the sound card, and the text looked the same on both, so I am guessing Spaghetti uses a different test pattern to the one I was comparing it to

Yep, you have to do the test with the same DAC input on both DACs to see if there is a difference.  That lasermedia test pattern should look the same if you are using the same program to display it through different DACs.  Sounds like you figured that out.

Spaghetti displays as it is unless optimizations are turned on.   Moncha (the software, not the hardware) always optimizes frames before sending it to the hardware so you will never see the real frame when sending from Moncha.
