FTDI have all kinds of cool USB devices.  I wish I was a little better with electronics.  I would like to design my own DAC using some of the stuff they have.

FYI... I ordered a PBS for my new projector to combine two red diodes from Optotronics.com for $25. It arrived Saturday, but when I tested it with my pointers I couldn't get to redirect the beam by rotating the pointer. After some head scratching I used a pair of polarizing sunglasses to verify that my pointers were actually polarized. I then rotated the cube while wearing the sunglasses. No change. A second look at the web site revealed that the PCB is not a Polarized Beam Splitter, but a Precision Beam Splitter. This is a little deceiving if you ask me.

http://optotronics.com/proddetail.php?prod=p-0003

Now I'm on the prowel for a PBS Polarized Beam Splitter. Cheep
So far the best I could find was $50
Any help would be appreciated.

" This is a little deceiving if you ask me. "

Oooo. I'd be a little bit upset about that!

I'd like to build my own dual 405. I don't know very much about the whole idea. I understand the basic parts list though. Someday, much like several other home builders I would like a dual analog red, a green (hopefully AOM), and a dual analog violet.

I guess I should face facts and just admit that I am WAY MORE into the code of LaserBoy and making it work than I am into playing with it on a laser projector. Go figure.

James.  :)
LaserBoy is Sofa King Cool!
But it will never be Alpha King Done!

what! wow that is very suprising and dissapointing.  A general warning against this product is in order.  Here I thought optotronics was offering a decent product at a decent price.. not so, eh?!

I guess I'm going to have to spen $50 for a PBS. I've been looking all over and that is the best I can find.
The last couple days I've been building two more heat sinks preping for the extra diodes I'm adding.
I like the idea of a USB to TTL device. That way I can mount it in the projector with a USB splitter. This allows me to keep just one cable from the computer to the projector.

Ok this weekend I was busy.
I painted the case my projector is going in.
I added another Red and BluRay to the projector and eliminated the TTL driver from my DPSS and replaced it with a FlexDrive.

It's coming togother.

I could turn them both up more, but I don't know how hard I can push the diodes in this application.
I know in a pointer you can turn them up quite a bit more but the duty cycle is a lot lower in a pointer.
