Thanks James,
Before we go that route let me try to force the internal sound card on. BTW I'm running it on my desktop right now.
The laptop is running Vista and the sound card drivers don't seem to work there. They loaded, but the GUI looks very different and there is no way to adjust the levels for the individual channels.

Is your Vista system 32 or 64 bit, and what kind of card are you trying?
I have a USB card that works fine in Vista 64, but I don't have a 32 system handy to try...

I am running a 32 bit system. Vista Home Premium

The card is a 6ch USB I got from James. It works fine on my XP desktop computer.

Vista32 may be the problem. :( My USB is also from James, I was able to get it to work in Win 7 32, it even came with a driver...

I downloaded Windows 7 and will try it out on the laptop this weekend. Cross your fingers.
I also ordered another 8 ch sound card. I figure I'll just play the sound right from it and not mess with the internal sound card since I can't seem to get both to work at the same time.

For sound in Spaghetti, go to Control Panel and set Windows for your internal card, that's where the music will go (as well as sound from any app that doesn't offer the ability to select an individual card). From within Spaghetti, you can select your add-on card for laser output.

If your playing 6 or 8ch wave with music in 7&8 (LaserBoy & LaserWave) set Windows to your USB card. If you do run across a working Vista system, its MPlayer can't play multi-channel wave (as XP & Win7 can), but you can download Spider Player for free.

Before you dump Vista (if you like to tinker), uninstall the USB driver, and try manually installing the XP32 driver (or the Vista32) from the CD via the Device Manager- no guarantees... You don't need the fancy controller app that comes with the USB, since it's being used as a straight DAC.

I'm using my desktop running XP for these experiments right now. I'll fight with Vista on the laptop later.
OK in Control panel I opened Sounds and Audio Devices. Under (Audio Tab / Sound Playback / Default Device), I selected my internal sound card. When I play a show I get an audio signal riding on top of the scanner channels, and no sound out of the internal sound card.

What the hell am I doing wrong?????????
This isn't rocket science. I feel really dumb right now.

You're right! This isn't "rocket science".

It's computer science!

If it was rs, it might make sense.

What is the sound chip in use on the other sound device?

James.  :)

The card is a Maxi Sound MUSE. I can open the computer to see the actual chip on the card if needed.

WOW! That is really impressive work!  ;D

I still can't get over how well the BluRay mixes with the others. That is just too cool.

What is that thing that looks like it is on top of your multi channel USB TTL switch? Are those transistors for current?

With your USB card hooked up, and Control Panel set for the internal card, can you hear music through the internal card when using Media Player?

Thanks James,
The Blue Ray only looks that good when hitting something white that flouresses like cotton.

You got it, they are FET's. The USB to TTL card doesn't put out enough current to drive relays (even the little reed type) so I went to FET's. They were $0.68 each from Digikey so I ordered 10. Thinking back I should have ordered 16 since I have 16 outputs. Oh well. If I end up needing to control 16 outputs I think I'll need a bigger box.

I'll check tonight to verify but I believe I can.
