Live Control Software
« on: January 25, 2009, 08:15:36 pm »
I am going to start some live control software now.  I got inputs from a couple of you in the past but forget them all.  I'd like to get any ideas, no matter how wild, in this thread so I can make a list of first things to implement.

it would be nice if it had large buttons/icons so you could easily use it with a touch screen...

you really want to impress, give it a web-interface with said buttons/icons so you could controll it remotely :)

similar to the rabidhampster/R4 applications

I finished it.  Hope you like it.

Notice that the controls go to 11 for that extra added oomph.

I don't like the name of the software.
Spaghetti LIVE!! is so boring..

i think you should have "Spaghetti Composer" as the time line editor and "Spaghetti Performer" as the live software.

How about spahetti 'touch'

oh no Microsoft has already used that too, but not as poorly as the 'live' marketing confusion :)

im interested in becoming a beta tester :)

I figured YOU would.  Right now the functionality is just prototype stage.  You can load up a screen full of ILDA files and save the configuration to a file.  And, you can click on them once they are loaded and they will be sent to your scanner as you click them.  Next steps are to add some effects.  Eventually you'll have the ability to have 3 seperate things selected and they will all be sent to the scanner.  Each one will have it's own set of effects, and the combination of them will also have a set of "global" effects.  So, you can put a spin and a resize on one selected item and combine it with a couple of other selected items, and then apply another spin and color change on the whole thing.  Basically, it will be like a combination of Fruity Loops and Spaghetti.  :)

Another "key" thing that I intend to implement is the ability for each selected item to automatically adjust itself to the beat of the music.  For example, everyone has the classic dancing "Barney" (from the Flintstones") ILDA file.  What the feature will allow is that whenever you select the dancing Barney item (or any other item), Barney will appear to move back and forth to the beat of the music.

I'm interested in knowning what effects you would find useful.  I'm sure I'll have various "pulsing" effects that make the image pulsate in size, color, or rotation to the beat.  But what else?  I think some razzle dazzle effects would be cool where when you hit a key and the image would appear to explode, or do a fireworks effect.  Other than that I don't know.

I want this software to be something that a DJ would feel comfortable using.  So, simplicity is key, but not to the point where it is boring or repetitive.

:)  I can't help but picture a bunch of people on the dance floor being randomly zapped in the eyes with laser beams and them yelling "I'm hit!  I'm hit!"
