Hey! Let's bump this thread!
I need to order parts to build a LaserBoy DAC for someone.
I would be glad to order enough parts to make one for YOU too!
I'm going to look at all of the electronics mail order places and get the best prices on stuff.
I only have 10 DC/DC converters for USB LaserBoy DACs.
But you don't need one for a PCI card based DAC.
Please let me know if you need a LaserBoy DAC and I'll build one for you for the cost of parts plus $50 for building and testing it. (Keep reading...)
Let me know and I'll give you a paypal address.
I should probably set a deadline on this offer.
I don't want to delay building the DAC I owe to someone.
So let's say I'm going to place my parts orders on 12-16-2009.
Here's what it takes:
(1) Dolby 7.1 sound device! It will have 8 channels. It can be either a PCI card or a USB device.
If you want me to make a correction amp for all 8 channels (you really only need 5) then you will need...
(8) 10K ohm 1% resister
(8) 15K ohm 1% resister
(1) 120 ohm resister
(8) 100K ohm trim pot, 15 or more turns
(9) 500 ohm trim pot, 15 or more turns
(6) 10uF tantalum capacitor
(4) 8 pin dip sockets
(4) TLO72 dual op-amp
(1) (optional) DC/DC converter (GND, +5) to (+9, GND, -9)
(1) LM337 adjustable negative voltage regulator
(1) copper clad proto-board
and a bunch of pin headers and sockts
If you go with a PCI sound card, you do not need a DC/DC voltage converter. You can get -12, +12 and +5 from the PCI slot.
This version of the amp will be made on a copper clad proto-board. I only have (4) of these boards. I can order more from China. Yes. They come on a slow boat.
If you only need 6 channels of correction {X, Y, r, g, b, i}; leaving channels 7 & 8 for standard audio playback, then I can build your correction amp on one of those pc boards that drlava had made.
(6) 10K ohm 1% resister
(6) 15K ohm 1% resister
(1) 120 ohm resister
(6) 100K ohm trim pot, 15 or more turns
(7) 500 ohm trim pot, 15 or more turns
(6) 10uF tantalum capacitor
(3) 8 pin dip sockets
(3) TLO72 dual op-amp
(1) (optional) DC/DC converter (GND, +5) to (+9, GND, -9)
(1) LM337 adjustable negative voltage regulator
(1) printed circuit board
and a bunch of pin headers and sockts
If you go with the 6 channel, printed circuit board version, I'll do it for cost of parts plus $25.
This offer is for anyone!
As in
YOU!
EVERYONE should have a modified sound card laser DAC!
James.
