Yes you should, that is a good price, and all the ones I have have been removed from equipment, and possibly a long time ago, so there condition is unknown. Plus the freight could go over that anyway.

This would drive 4 sets of little speakers at 70W per set! You could wire (18) 8 ohm speakers together to make 4 ohms.

This is very similar, but only 2 channels. This amp is on a lot of DIY audio boards and there are several mods that have been posted.

James, what are you doing, you know these things are going to have heaps of harmonic distortion. FETs get very tricky to drive at high frequencies, and it needs to be high to give you any frequency response.

You should just stick to class AB amplifiers. Digital amps are cool technically, but suck for the good stuff (sound quality).

Maybe class G if you are so inclined.

Class A if you don't care about heat, and it seems like you could use a heater over there

I really like Tripath amps!

I got a kit of AMP3 from 41Hz.com a few years ago that was a bit of a bitch to build, (so I bought two and goofed up the first one). 

The second one works fine.

Tripath is really it's own kind of amp. There are other PWM audio amps, but not like these. These switch at a much higher frequency.

There may be a few small modification improvements that can be made to the 2x100 and the 4x100, but they have gotten great reviews from the DIY audio board.

For $12.99 USD you can try one for yourself. I'm sure you will find a good use for it. If you look, you can find mods for this board that improve the sound.

The last thing I need is a space heater!

I really like the fact that these amps are powered with easy to get single voltage supplies.

I'm seriously thinking about using one 4X100 @ 4 ohms to drive two of my woofer boxes. I'd need two amps for stereo. Each box has (4) 8 ohm woofers that could easily be rewired to be (2) 4 ohm loads.

Yes I have looked into the class T design and switching methodologies, and don't get me wrong, it's like the rotary engine, really cool. And I do quite a lot of power electronics design, especially switch mode (which I realize these differ from). They are cheap though, and I am interested in the modifications you speak of.

Well I guess I'm kinda' spoiled, cause I went for the good stuff right away. The kits at 41Hz.com are known to be about as well designed as they could possibly be, with excellent pcb and parts.

Although, I would say that even out of the box, non-modified, the Dayton clone of the Sonic Impact T-Amp that I got was very impressive; even with the crap wallwart PS.

I'm going to get a 2x100 and a 4x100 just for the hell of it and I will be modifying them. I'll let you you.
