MS and Apple decided to put "PC's" in to the main stream and neither company took any care to actually protect the users from the world of hackers and virus..

  I've often heard that Mac's are much less prone to viruses and such. Is that a design difference, or just the possibilty that hackers have bigger fish to fry???

  OK, I have to say something... I am in NO way a computer science expert, skilled in high flutin' object-oriented C++ and such.
I'm a tinkerer technician type, but I am STUNNED at your dim view of open source code.

  Science and progress is about accumulating human knowledge, building on the hard-earned discoveries of previous generations.
That's where the open source thing comes in: free, open source allows many individuals with God-given talent to move things
forward with their own unique ideas without having to re-invent the wheel- what could be wrong with that?

  But wait, there's more! Back in the mid 90's, there were several lawsuits against MS. The government is the real problem here,
as they could have busted up MS just like they did Ma Bell years earlier using anti-trust laws from the 1800's, and we wouldn't
even be having this discussion.

I made a mistake when I wrote "Tracker" that should have been Stacker who invented disc drive double space.

Add to that the fact that MS almost wiped Netscape off the face of the Earth. They invented the web browser! AND it was and still is free and open source! MS built a campus literally across the street from them and hired away all their best programmers for twice their salaries at Netscape.

Then they stomped all over Sun Microsystems by trying to steal Java and turn it into a proprietary MS development environment called MS J++; specifically designed to be INCOMPATIBLE with Java!

But all of this started back in 1985 when he sold the idea to IBM for big investment bucks BEFORE he paid close to nothing to the original developers and owners of DOS.

Fuck Microsoftâ„¢.

Bill Gates is a total dick-head who should have had his balls busted a LONG time ago. There were THOUSANDS of good opportunities where MS was clearly breaking the law. But he knew how to surround himself with THOUSANDS of weenees who would do ANYTHING for money.

 I'm repeating an old wife's tale here, but according to legend in youth, old Bill got busted many times for traffic infractions. He
continued to drive on a suspended liscence and effectually lost his driving privileges for life in New Mexico. By the same legend, this
is supposedly the reason that MS is HQ'd in Washington state, which did not care about driving history from other states.
