Computer Science should always be cutting edge, new ideas.

Going to bed now... laughing.

That doersn't mean anything to me coming from someone who never uses LaserBoy.

Ask anyone else on this forum who does.

Good night!

Gates acted out of GREED and has based his empire on GREED.

He stole the idea for the mouse, he stole the idea for a windowed OS, and pushed development to BEAT apples launch date.. why? greed

Yep, greed.  Just like the reason I go to work everyday.  You'd do it to if you knew how.

ok your right .. maybe m$ has something to teach us all... i really need to rethink my position in life..

Gary, I honestly think you've insulted both Alec and myself by getting personal and going a bit too far.

Just because LaserBoy doesn't look like every other Windows application doesn't mean it's primative. It just means that you don't get it.

Suggesting that Alec can't keep a job (in this economy) is just not OK any way you look at it.

My apologies to Alex.  It was not intended to be taken that way.  What I meant is that if he knew of a way to sell a product and make millions he would do it.  I have no idea what is job situation is.

As for LaserBoy, it is what it is.  I'm pretty tired of hearing you preach about the right way to do software when you are presenting an application with a user interface that is on part with my TVs remote control.  You certainly don't mind insulting anyone else for the way they do things.  For example, the first or second time we talked on the phone you flat out insulted me by saying that my chosen path of expertise was evil and wrong and blah blah blah.

Thinking that MS is all there is in the universe of computer science is just wrong!

Denying that everything they offer is just a bad copy of real computer science is just silly.

Whatever you do everyday in MS, you could probably do more effectively in GNU. It just so happens that the company you work for uses MS. And you got hired there, I'm assuming, for your specific knowledge of MS. And that's fine!

When you become an evangelist for MS, you're spouting off a bunch of crap. Every time!

MS is NEVER a better way to do ANYTHING.

It's just a product, and not at all a good one.

The best thing you can say about it is it's dumb enough for everyone in the world to use it!

It is not a religion.

You're brainwashed.

blah blah blah blah

The real driving force here is that you and I just need to completely disagree about everything. I can respect that.

But you're still wrong.  ;D

James.  :)

PS I'd be glad to show you some stuff about LaserBoy anytime.

What do you use for debugging laserboy for setting breakpoints, examining the stack, pointers, etc?

I'm going to guess that he justs writes code and posts a new rev, waiting for folks to say something doesn't work. ;D ;D

Well, yes! There is that; thankfully.  ;D

I don't use any debugger. I never really have. I write code to figure out what's going on and I'm very careful not to dereference a pointer to space I don't own. I have no problems. The only time I ever really needed a debugger was to prove to that stupid bitch at VHT (my first programming job) that it was NOT my application that was blowing the process stack!

That was IBM VisualAge C++ on OS/2.

BTW I wrote both of the user interfaces for VHT's only product. The only thing that anyone saw of the whole system was through my ANSI Color Terminal via telnet or the GCI application I wrote to run in Apache (on OS/2). BOTH of these applications were totally lean and mean 32-bit CONSOLE applications (in C++)!
