There is a group buy on PL for 445 nm diodes pulled from a Casio XJ-A130


I ordered 1 diode and as soon as I get it up and running I will post some pictures and such.

They are selling for around ~$60 USD apiece.  I don't think they know the exact specs yet but they have been run over 100 mW and some at 470 mW (not sure the longevity...).

This changes everything!

Now it looks like we have some quantum values to deal with.

We've got the low end at 658nm in the form of two DVD burning diodes and a PBS cube. That can put out about 400mW.

Greenie pointers can be had that supposedly do 180mW or better at 532nm.

Now we have true blue at 445nm doing about 400mW. I would assue that these things combine the same way reds and BluRays do, so that could be more like 800mW, if necessary.

So now it looks like the limiting factor is the power of the red.

Aren't there some BluRay diodes out there now that can do 200mW? So it would be possible to add like 400mW at 405nm. Do you think you would even be able to see it when with the 445nm in the mix?

Now I want to build an RGBV !!!

I don't think there would be any benefit of adding 405nm to this color.  But that decision is ultimately up to you. 
Oh and although I posted in this thread, this is one of the $475 diodes. :O

hmmm, lets see.....475 x 24 diodes per unit = 11,400 dollars, for a 700 dollar projector. Well, another 225 and you could have 24 diodes. damn thats gotta hurt. i'm feeling you pain.....

I don't think there would be any benefit of adding 405nm to this color.  But that decision is ultimately up to you. 

I just like the idea of having 4 discrete wavelengths. There's just no substitution for violet! Red and blue don't make violet. They make magenta. I realize the violet would be lost if it was projected onto a surface that is flourecent.

Plus the fact, it would give me a reason to write code to populate the violet channel information in LaserBoy!

Insects and spiders would get more out of my lasers shows too. That's important.

Oh and although I posted in this thread, this is one of the $475 diodes. :O

I hate to ask.... Is there any difference?

I havn't been this excited in years..  I thought I was excited with getting RGV..  They are for real.. now to see if we can buy the replacement blue diode Laser Cartridge.. as it is removable...   with all 24 Diodes in it

OK OK!! I actually have to go to work..  now the Blue Diode Sled is removable.. IE  a part that can be user replaced maybe?




The Part Ordering Page for the Projector, Lists a Light (LamP) assembly..  someone should call..  24 laser diodes for even $300-400-500  would be a total LOL..  Casio will sell more spare bulbs than projectors.  Someone want to call for Pricing?

well i have been bumped from the 2 diodes i ordered. wow that sucked. but i think there is another choice. help, looking for diodes for my projector. need two and a spare eventually. but for now would like one!!
