After 13 months and 1 day, I figured it might be a good time to release a new version of LaserBoy!

I fixed so many things over the past many months, I have no idea what to report.

But I can report that I finally fixed the text rendering problem. Used to be that the color information got messed up when you rendered text. It looked right on the screen, but would not save to a file. Fixed that!

Please test it out and see if it still does those weird things that the previous versions did.

Let me know if you have any questions.

There are some new features planned for splitting waves that are in the menu but don't work right yet.

In this version, I fixed some stuff about how LaserBoy reads it own ASCII text files.

There was a problem with importing frames of real numbers. FIXED IT!

And a problem with true color imports. FIXED IT!

Also added #include <sys/stat.h> so that it compiles in Ubuntu Linux and maybe (hopefully) in Mac OSX too!

Hi everybody

First off all thx for a cool forum and everything. You guys ROCK.

My name is Kenneth and I have just made my first Laser projector Laser projector 7.11.11 EAL
I use Lwave to make my visuals in the video through my Audiolase sound card, and it works perfect.
I have tried to get my laser projector up and running with some other programs but i can't get it to work with my Sound card. I have tried Mamba 2004 and most of all Laserboy. When i use Laserboy it doesn't connect to my soundcard I have played around with it for a couple of days now and I just can't get it to work anyone who know what i should do.

Hi Kenneth and welcome to the LaserBoy Forum!!!

LaserBoy does not connect to your sound card at all and it never did! You make waves in LaserBoy and you play them through any wave player that can play 6 or 8 channel waves; like Spider-Player.com.

If you want to you can contact me via Skype and I can show you how to use LaserBoy to make all kinds of stuff!

You can make your own original art and you can also open ILDA files and convert them to wave for display.

Ahh that make sense


At the moment I can't get spider player up and running on my PC since the internet on it isn't working and you ned to be online to validate it. Do you know of any other programs that works? the best for me would be if there is one for mac but i can't seem to find any free programs at the moment.


It would be cool to get a quick tour through the program and also just to talk a bit more about lasers in general.
I have just added you on Skype.

It's totally unrelated post for above here~ but though it has to do something about the WAV input in LB.


So its easy to say, when I load a wav file with 6 channels into LB it counts upto 32768 and it crashes. though this is what I done and tested so far:.


So first attempt, I've got a part of my lasershow (off from my easylase recorded) saved up as a 6 channel normal WAV with audacity. I opened in LB and it crashes immiditly using option  [I,3,4] (invert yes).


so the second attempt was saved again with Audacity, but this time using WAVEX 6 channel 48khz 16bit~.
this will load it but crashes when the counter reach above 32768, even if I took one frame, it still counts that much o.o  .


3rd attempt was like... which I still busy on it...
I opened a normal frame (ILD) and save it as WAV using LB. Ive opened the LB wav file into a HEX editor and i've copied the text LASERBOYxxxxxx into the other wav file which is unbranded, I wonder if this will work. though I search a better haxeditor for this. This will LB think that it is generated by its own software.. but dont know if this works fully.


I can provide the files if you like to play with it..
But if you have a simpler way, Im looking very forward for it!

Thank you for your enthusiasm and efforts.

First I must ask what version of LaserBoy are you using?

Also, are you running it on a computer with a 64-bit processor?

I would be glad to take a look at the wave files that you are working with.

I have a couple of waves that came from ADAT dubs that are in excess of 2GB and it takes a long time, but they do open properly in LaserBoy.

I'd be glad to help you with this in any way I can. I'm sure we can figure out what the problem is and get your waves inported into LaserBoy so you can save them as ILD frames or whatever you want to do with them.
