I have some of the pc boards that I laid out and drlava had printed.

I just made this DAC for no-esc with one of those boards.

http://akrobiz.com/laserboy/forum/index.php/topic,333.msg4033.html#msg4033

However, I changed all the parts values and used a variable negative voltage regulator, so it is much more accurate.

I would be glad to make one for you too.

So, you must work for AMD!

How cool is that?

I have always used AMD processors, ever since the AMD-5x86 !!!  ;D

Yes indeed, I work for AMD, since the early 90's !

any chance I could get just the pcb. unassembled ?
with or without componets ? either way.

Engineers like to do things their  own way !  :)
just let me know how much and paypal account.

thanks for your help.

Sure. No problem.

But let me explain the changes I made...

Take a look at these schemos:

Look at reply #13 & #14.

http://akrobiz.com/laserboy/forum/index.php/topic,277.msg3002.html#msg3002

If you look at the pictures of the DAC I made for no-esc, you can see the extra parts added for the variable voltage regulator. It's an LM337 in a TO-220 package with a trim pot and a cap super-glued to the board. The added 120 ohm resister is a bit harder to see, but it's there too.

I also like to use a 100K stereo pot for the X, Y image size.

Do you also need one of those DC/DC converters, that fits the holes in this board?

Are you in The USA?

I have everything but two 100K trim pots!

I ordered parts for two complete correction amps from eBay and they sent me two 10K pots instead of the 100K.

(I had already soldered them into no-esc's correction board, before I noticed.)  :P

I knew what the problem was as soon as I measured the output voltages at 1/10 of what they should be.  %)

They said they would send me a pair of 100K pots right away.

I'd be glad to put it together for you.

You should think about getting this sound card instead of the 6 channel:

http://usbgear.com/view_cart.cfm?CFID=46099581&CFTOKEN=89671140

If you'd like, I can order one of these and make the whole thing for you as a single unit.

This one has 8 channels and the chip is a newer design.

The nice thing about 8 channels is that it gives you all 5 signals you need for the laser plus stereo audio and another channel for whatever.

The way LaserBoy is set up to make waves, the channels are X, Y, red, green, blue, mono, audio-L, audio-R.

The "mono" channel can be set to a variety of different ways to remove RGB color from the art and put just the intensity into one control signal.

I'll have to add up the cost of the parts and let you know how much that is.

Or..... I really like to trade for stuff. I've never really outright sold a LaserBoy DAC!

And I certainly hope that you will engage in the forum discussions.

That's why I really do this. I like to meet people, exchange ideas and HAVE FUN!

I also like to talk to people on the phone!

Oh come on Dean!

We all know that no one actually USES a sound card DAC!

We all just build them or get them and let them sit and collect dust while we think about how cool it would be to get the laser projector put together and working!  %)

First rule of laser display:
Lasers don't work!  ;D

Am I right?  ;)

Well, you know this soundcard DAC thing is just a big hassle and nobody in their right mind wants to deal with it.
Besides, there's so many other ways to drive a projector, we should just forget about the whole thing...

I edited the link above to this:

These guys offer (a tiny bit) cheaper shipping.

Huh!

That aluminum box that I had for years and just pulled out of a box full of electronics possibilities (junk) seems to be the only one of its kind in the world!

http://akrobiz.com/laserboy/forum/index.php/topic,333.msg4033.html#msg4033

I didn't measure it, but I'm guessing it was about 6" x 3.25" x 1.125".

I like the fact that the top and both sides come off.

Has anyone seen anything like this lately?

James.  :)
